The Real Woods
If you are looking for that real wood feel, there are some options for you and your furry friend. Brazilian Walnut is known for its hardness. This dense wood is often used for exterior decking because of its denseness and strength. Another option for your home’s flooring is hard maple. This flooring is often used for basketball flooring and can stand up to pet traffic well. This wood is often referred to as sugar or rock maple. Another wooden option is strand-woven or fossilized bamboo. Although bamboo is a grass, it is classified as wood and is extremely durable. The manufacturer impregnates the grass with hard resins that make it extremely hard.
Stay away from soft woods like pine or fir as these woods will not stand up to pet nails. Although engineered hardwood looks nice, it is actually hardwood with laminate at the center. Because the center isn’t wood, you will not be able to sand your scratched floors more than once before the laminate floors start to show. While there are not your only options for flooring, when it comes to the hardwood flooring look, these options would be best to standing up to our furry friends!
